Two 15-year-old boys were among the 39 people who died in a lorry container in Essex last month, the United Kingdom police said on Friday.

The Essex police have worked closely with the National Crime Agency, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Vietnamese authorities to identify and locate the victims' families.

Police say the Vietnamese and British governments are now working on repatriating the bodies.

The bodies of the 31 males and eight women were found in a truck container on an industrial estate in Grays, Essex, not far from docks on the River Thames, in the early hours of Oct 23.

Some of the names had emerged in news reports before, among them Pham Thi Tra My, a 26-year-old woman whose heartbreaking final text message to her mother vividly brought home the scale of the tragedy.

Essex Police said it only released the names after an exhaustive operation to ID them all and alert next of kin, with DNA samples sought from many relatives in Vietnam to confirm identities. British police have charged two men with manslaughter as well as human trafficking and immigration offenses, and a trial is expected soon.

In Ireland, 22-year-old Eamonn Harrison was arrested on a British warrant.
