Ohio State, Georgia schedule second, third meetings ever

Watch QB Joe Burrow punt question about LSU and Ohio State rivalries

The trend of Power Five programs scheduling one another hasn't died down as another notable home-and-home series was announced Thursday morning.

The now sixth-ranked Bulldogs (No. 6 in the College Football Playoff ) will play a home game against the Buckeyes on September 14, 2030, and travel to No. 3 Ohio State (No. 1 CFP) on August 30, 2031. The only meeting so far was the 1993 Citrus Bowl, which Georgia won 21-14 behind the exploits of running back Garrison Hearst, who was named the game's MVP after scoring two touchdowns. "National home-and-home matchups in the future with Oklahoma, Clemson, UCLA, Florida State and Texas will provide our student-athletes and fans the best experiences in college football".

"We are committed to playing in as many big games as possible, keeping Georgia on the national stage", Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. The last time these teams met, the Terps gashed Ohio State for 51 points and more than 500 yards of total offense.

Leonard returned to play October 31, in a victory against San Antonio, just as he is expected to play Thursday against Portland. Clay feels strongly that this can't happen for nationally televised games and that the league or TV networks should step in.

Wow, what a time in college football. The Buckeyes fell to the Bulldogs 21-14 in the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on January 1, 1993.

In addition to Georgia, Ohio State has future home-and-home agreements with OR (2020-2021), Notre Dame (2022-2023), Washington (2024-2025) and Texas (2025-2026). This is in addition to their annual contest against Georgia Tech. The teams also will play in the 2024 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta.
