More than 2 million pounds of ready-to-cook chicken recalled

The recalled products were produced between October 21 and November 4 and shipped to retailers in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

Food Safety and Inspection Service said Wednesday that Simmons Prepared Foods Inc., based in Gentry, Ark., was recalling several ready-to-cook chicken products.

The establishment numbers "P-1949", "P-486" or "P-5837" will appear inside the USDA mark of inspection on the products.

So far, no one has reported having an adverse reaction after consuming the chicken, officials say. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

The agency urged the public to throw out or return the products.

Ibraheem Yazeed faces charges of kidnapping in Aniah Haley Blanchard case
Yazeed is known to have been at the last location Blanchard was seen and is suspected of taking her forcibly, according to police. Before noon on Thursday, Montgomery district judge Pamela Higgins revoked Yazeed's combined $280,000 bond, ordering his arrest.

And in July, Michigan-based Ada Valley Gourmet Foods, Inc recalled almost 3,500 pounds of raw ground beef meatloaf products over a contamination of broken metal bits.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. "When something happens that is potentially inconsistent with this promise to our customers, it will always require careful and constant review to maintain our commitment to food safety".

More than two million pounds of chicken have been recalled in eight states due to a possible metal contamination.

The recall encompasses raspberries and frozen berry mixes containing raspberries produced by Wawona Frozen Foods.
