Michael Bloomberg again eyeing 2020 presidential bid

Michael Bloomberg, the business media mogul and former NY mayor, again is considering an entry into the Democratic presidential race - something that could alter the dynamics of the primary just a few months before voting begins.

After announcing in March he wouldn't launch a White House campaign, Bloomberg is now "increasingly concerned that the current field of candidates is not well positioned" to defeat President Trump according to a statement from adviser Howard Wolfson provided to NPR.

The New York Times, which first reported the expected Alabama filing, reports Bloomberg has been privately weighing a presidential bid for weeks but has not yet made a final decision.

To qualify for the Alabama primary ballot, Bloomberg will need to gather 500 signatures from Alabama voters or at least 50 signatures from each of the state's seven congressional districts.

He is planning to submit his name for the Democratic presidential Primary in Alabama on Friday, the deadline to do so.

Working to get 737 Max back in air, says Boeing
Boeing said it provided technical documents to regulators "in a format consistent with past submissions". He said he was forgoing the bonuses to "send a message of responsibility".

"He's a literal billionaire entering the race to keep the progressives from winning", said Rebecca Katz, a New York-based liberal Democratic strategist. He ultimately decided against a run, citing in part the apparent strength of former Vice President Joe Biden, a fellow moderate.

Bloomberg's decision to reconsider suggests he shares the concerns of other Democrats who are increasingly anxious about the former vice-president's fundraising and messaging, particularly as Warren's popularity has risen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) during the Democratic Presidential Debate at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio on October 15, 2019.

"Trump will get re-elected if Elizabeth Warren is the nominee".

"There are smart and influential people in the Democratic Party who think a candidate like Bloomberg is needed", said Jennifer Palmieri, a senior adviser to Clinton. It means a candidate can enter the race for the February 3 leadoff contest at any time.
