Catherine Deneuve Hospitalized in Paris After Mild Stroke

French actress Catherine Deneuve has been hospitalized following "a very limited and therefore reversible ischemic stroke", according to a statement from her family.

The French newspaper Le Parisien reported on Wednesday morning that the actress had succumbed to "an illness on Tuesday night that continued into Wednesday morning". "Happily, her motor control has not been affected, she will need a few days' rest", AFP celebrity reporter Jean-François Guyot said on his Twitter feed, quoting from a Deneuve family statement sent to AFP by her agent.

A legend of French cinema, Deneuve, 76, was nicknamed the "Ice Maiden" because of her beauty and detached manner.

Democrats laments as Trump administration begins formal withdrawal from Paris agreement
The formal move to withdraw from the agreement has come under criticism from environmental groups and civil society organisations. The United States - the world's largest historic greenhouse gas emitter - will become the only country outside the accord.

The outlet also noted that Deneuve was filming a scene for her upcoming film De Son Vivant when she suffered the stroke.

But longevity was one of the French film star's greatest skills. She starred in the 1983 Hunger with David Bowie and was awarded to Indochina in 1993.

It was arguably her prize-winning turn in Luis Bunuel's 1967 masterpiece Belle de Jour, the avant-garde story of a bored young housewife who spends her weekday afternoons as a posh prostitute, for which she may be best remembered.
