Sony confirms PlayStation 5, releasing Holiday 2020

Sony has revealed that the next version of its gaming console will stick to the existing pattern and be called PlayStation 5.

Sony has said that the PS5's controller will be improved, with a new haptic feedback system replacing the old rumble feedback that the console has used for years now. Wired, who spoke to lead PS4 architect Mark Cerny and held the prototype PS5 controller in their session, give the example of the triggers acting differently in order to simulate the increase in tension as an on-screen character draws back a bow and arrow ready to fire, or to showcase the in-hand difference between machine gun fire and a shotgun blast.

Sony is also talking about a new technology known as "adaptive triggers" in the console.

Liverpool named as Europe’s best team by Man City rival Rodri
The Merseyside outfit moved eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City with a 2-1 win over Leicester last weekend. The Citizens are now eight points adrift of their Premier League rivals after only eight games.

The PlayStation 5 will come with a high-speed solid-state drive, Ryzen processor and Radeon graphics cards from Advanced Micro Devices Inc., 8K resolution video and a unit for processing 3D audio, the company said in a release Tuesday. The adaptive triggers technology sounds quite similar to a Microsoft patent field earlier this year which described a trigger system for its Xbox controller with nearly the same working mechanism. Wired descripe the controller's unfinished form as being "an bad lot like the PS4's DualShock 4" - but there's some intriguing differences in the functionality of the controller. Additionally, it will feature a USB type-c connector and a bigger battery. However, all games will this time be installed to the internal SSD. With this, Sony says that players will be able to feel a much broader range of sensations while playing games, which will hopefully help with immersion. Sony is going to allow developers to break down the installations of games.

One major feature fans have been awaiting news of is whether they're previous purchases on the PS4 and earlier will still be available to play on the next release, and Sony has finally revealed the future of backwards compatibility in a recent investors meeting. With the release date set to the 2020 holiday season, there is still sufficient time for a lot more information to stream in and fill in the missing pieces.

We've pulled out all the biggest and most exciting details below, from PS5 exclusive games to confirmation of that rumoured devkit, and presented it here without any of the hard-to-parse technological jargon.
