Medvedev extends hot streak to set up Shanghai final with Zverev

Stefanos Tsitsipas celebrates

Alexander Zverev of Germany in action against Roger Federer of Switzerland.

Zverev, who will seek a 4th Masters title, has won all four meetings with Medvedev.

That made Friday's quarterfinals a huge surprise when the No. 1 and No. 3 players in the world went down in stunning upsets.

Shanghai - Defeats for Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic mean that the victor of the Shanghai Masters will be aged 23 or under - more proof that the next generation of men's tennis stars is closing in.

Heading to Shanghai after taking easy 500 points in Tokyo, world no. 1 Novak Djokovic had only one thing on his mind, the title defense and extra 1000 points on his tally. "I hate myself for putting myself into that kind of situation where I have to play on his own terms and not on my terms", said Tsitsipas. "It's exciting. They're great".

"Positions have changed a little bit so I think I can contest him right now".

She said she couldn't be sure what she thought as a kid, and acknowledged that different faiths see things differently. Jesus loves all the children of the world, '" Warren addressed onstage after she was questioned about her own faith.

So, Tsitsipas and Zverev join the two straight-set victors, Daniil Medvedev and Matteo Berrettini, in the semi-finals to complete a quartet of "next-gen" players remaining in the draw, with Saturday's semi-finals getting underway at 930 United Kingdom time. I don't know if I'm going to be able to beat him the next time or the time after that one, but I know there's going to be a time where I'm going to find opportunities and beat him.

Fognini beat seventh-seeded Karen Khachanov of Russian Federation 6-3, 7-5. Zverev may feel that, now that he has beaten Federer, the hard work is done, but the Italian has already proved his ability to handle the big occasion numerous times this year. Zverev holds a 4-3 advantage in his career, including a controversial win at the ATP Finals last November.

World No.4 Medvedev continues a stellar season, having reached his first grand-slam final at the US Open and his first Masters decider at the Rogers Cup.

Until Friday's match, Djokovic had won 24 straight sets in Asia, a run that included last year's Shanghai Masters and the title in Tokyo last week. He stormed back to win the last two sets, 7-5, 6-3.

The Greek's victory also means that Djokovic will surrender his number one spot in the ATP ranking to Nadal.

In the second round, Novak took down Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-3 in 70 minutes, dropping eight points on serve and taking nearly half of the return points to dominate all the time, breaking Denis three times and moving over the top to set the third-round clash with John Isner.
