Brooklyn Shooting Leaves 4 dead, 3 wounded

NYPD investigates the scene of a shooting in the Brooklyn borough of New York on Saturday Oct. 12 2019

Four people were killed and three others were wounded in an early Saturday shooting at an illegal gambling club in New York City, police said.

Two firearms have been recovered. While the circumstances that promoted the shooting are under investigation, they found dice and cards at the location.

Police have no information on a suspect or motive, NYPD spokesman Brian Magoolaghan said. The four men who died ranged in age from 32 to 49, NBC New York reported.

Investigators say there is nothing to indicate that this shooting was gang related.

Officials say the three injured include at least one woman, and that all injuries are serious but not considered to be life-threatening. "Gov. Cuomo and New York State have done a lot to prevent and reduce gun violence, but it is clear there is more work to do at the community level and beyond".

Teenage Star Gauff Reaches Maiden WTA Final
The youngest-ever victor of a WTA Tour title was two-time US Open champion Tracy Austin, aged just 14, at Portland in 1977. Under normal circumstances, Coco Gauff wouldn't have made the main draw at this week's tournament in Linz, Austria .

The local police precinct headquarters is two blocks away.

Authorities responded to a call about shots fired just before 7 a.m. and found four men dead in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn at an address that corresponds to a private social club according to an online map of the street. There have been 20 incidents so far in 2019, as opposed to 14 by this time in 2018, and nine murders this year compared to one by this time last year.

Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio, in a message posted on Twitter, said the city "awoke to senseless gun violence". As a result, police had increased patrols of the area.

This is a developing story.
