Padres pitcher accused of breaking in through doggie door

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Jacob Nix

San Diego Padres right-hander Jacob Nix faces criminal trespassing charges after an incident in which he allegedly entered a home in Peoria, Ariz., through a doggy door.

A woman called police around 3:30am Sunday, saying her husband had discovered a man crawling through the doggy door of their home in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria.

He told police he saw a flashlight shining through the door and a man, later identified as Nix, trying to crawl through.

As Nix was making his way into the house, the homeowner confronted him by first kicking Nix in the face and then tasing him, Maricopa County authorities said.

The results were not too kind to Nix, who found himself tased and kicked by a home owner after he attempted to enter said residence through a doggie door.

Several shells landed close to where many media organizations have set up, including the BBC on the outskirts of Akcakale . President Erdogan wants a buffer zone to which he can send back some of the 3.6 million Syrian refugees his country hosts.

Police spotted Nix and Cosgrove a short distance away and took them into custody.

Cosgrove, a 12th-round pick in 2017, has yet to pitch above Single-A.

Nix dropped his phone inside the home, and verified to police it was his when he was being booked into jail, the police report said. According to the records, they both bonded out that afternoon, Nix paying a $100 bond and Cosgrove paying a $50 bond to the court.

Nix, a third-round pick of the Padres in 2015, has been charged with criminal trespassing. The 23-year-old Nix is now playing in the Arizona Fall League. Nix and another Padres player, Thomas Cosgrove, were arrested.

The Padres issued the following statement on the incident: "We are aware of the alleged incident involving Jacob Nix last Sunday in Arizona". He has a preliminary court hearing scheduled for October 16. Due to the ongoing legal proceedings, we will not have any further comment at this time.
