Jane Fonda Arrested at Climate Change Protest

Jane Fonda arrested in climate change strike outside CapitolMore

Fonda said she plans on protesting on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and getting arrested every Friday through January, discussing a different topic each week, from the Green New Deal to fresh water and forests.

According to The Washington Post, which interviewed Fonda ahead of the launch event on Friday, "she has invited some of her celebrity friends: Actor Ted Danson of "Cheers" fame, who has become involved in ocean conservation; "The Vagina Monologues" playwright Eve Ensler; and actresses Kyra Sedgwick and Catherine Keener".

Climate activists cheered on Fonda-famous for her decades of activism promoting peace, racial justice, feminism, and environmental action-as photos and videos of her arrest began circulating online Friday.

She said she would be part of the protests on her website on Thursday. "It'll be called 'Fire Drill Friday.' And we're going to engage in civil disobedience and we're going to get arrested every Friday".

Today, the United States Capitol Police arrested 16 individuals for unlawfully demonstrating on the East Front of the U.S. Capitol.

Malecki wrote that all are charged with crowding, obstructing or incommoding.

Jane Fonda is a legend. "It so traumatized her that she stopped speaking and eating", Fonda explained.

Fonda, forever known as "Hanoi Jane" to those who took offense to her stand against the Vietnam War, criticized Democrats for failing to advance the left's climate agenda. "And that really hit me".

But despite her lefty credentials, Fonda told Politico in 2018 that while she opposes President Trump's policies, she doesn't hate him as a person.

Fonda continued, "Greta said we have to behave like it's a crisis".

"It's too late for moderation", she said. "And if they like your character and they like the story, then they like you".

"When he became the nominee, I thought, well, that's good, because he's not ideological". Not as bad, but I know men like him.

"I think every single human being has to say, 'What can I do to put this at the forefront?'" Fonda added. "I'll do anything." One arrest down, 13 more to go.
