Last year, Carter surpassed George H.W. Bush's record as the oldest living president, following Bush's 2018 death at 94 years and 171 days old.

Former US president Jimmy Carter was slightly injured after falling in his home in Plains, Georgia, the Carter Center said in a statement.

Carter fell at home on Sunday, requiring 14 stiches, but he did not let his injuries keep him from participating in his 36th building project with the nonprofit Christian housing organization.
