Bank robbery suspect arrested day before wedding after fiancee calls police

Heath Edward Bumpous

Wallace says the suspect provided a "full confession" and that most of the stolen money has been recovered. On Saturday he is going to get married to the love of his life.

He told the bank teller that he was about to get married and needed the money for his wedding the following day. However, he hadn't discussed it with his wife about the situation.

The couple's wedding plans are unclear at this point. After some discussion, Wallace said the fiancee was able to persuade Bumpous to turn himself in and soon after, he confessed to authorities in Houston. At 11.30 am Friday he thought to steal money from Citizen state bank located at Groveton. The bank is only about 500 feet away from the sheriff's office in the small town north of Houston.

Heath Bumpous, 30, told bank staff he was carrying a gun, demanded money and fled in a getaway vehicle. Lastly, after he robbed the bank he hoped on his vehicle and thrown his clothes out of the window.

"The Wedding Crasher has been frequenting wedding events not only in Comal County but surrounding counties as well, preying on unsuspecting families and friends", said the Comal County Sheriff's Office in a statement.

A Texas man was arrested the day before his wedding after he allegedly robbed a bank to pay for his wedding ring.
