Water Found Recently on One of The Potentially Habitable Planet

This artist’s rendering shows Exoplanet K2-18b foreground its host star and an accompanying planet in this system. On Wednesday scientists announced they have discovered water on the planet outside our solar system that has temperatures suitable for

The K2-18b exoplanet orbits a red dwarf in the Leo constellation, at about 110 light-years away.

Thanks to the space telescope "Hubble" astronomers found that the atmosphere of the planet K2-18b may more than half consist of water vapor. With roughly eight times the density of Earth - and thus, eight times the gravity - an average human on K2-18b would weigh 1 ton. This alien world has drawn the attention of astronomers from NASA after the researchers from the Center for Space Exochemistry Data at the University College London in the United Kingdom discovered it.

The new planet is simply over double the size of Earth - in a planet classification known as a "super-Earth" - and has a temperature cool enough to have fluid water, somewhere in the range of zero and 40C. The planet, discovered by NASA's Kepler Space Telescope in 2015, also has a mass eight times greater than Earth's. We don't know if there is liquid water. The research report revealed that the temperature in the exoplanet is ideal to host alien life. There are high chances that the planet has liquid rain on it.

As the starlight filtered through the planet's atmosphere, some of it would be absorbed by the gases in the planet's air. However, the radiation coming from its host star might be hostile to life, so this alien world might not sustain life right now. And as the planet completes rotation of its orbit in 33 days hence it would not be typical for us to measure the fluctuations and variety of atmosphere present there in a few years.

Mugabe's family rejects government's funeral plans in favour of private burial
A massive fuel price hike this year sparked nationwide protests which left at least 17 people dead after soldiers opened fire. Mugabe took his oath of office in the same stadium when colonial Rhodesia handed over the reins of the country.

"With so many new super-Earths expected to be found over the next couple of decades, it is likely that this is the first discovery of many potentially habitable planets", said Ingo Waldmann, study co-author and lecturer in extrasolar planets at the University College London's Centre for Space Exochemistry Data.

The surface was then tested for various components to confirm the existence of life on the exoplanet and these components include H2O, CH4, CO, CO2, NH3, HCN, H2S, C2H2, O2, OH, PH3, Na, K, TiO, SiO, H-, VO, HDO, and FeH.

The "habitable zone" doesn't mean "habitable" but results are still favourable in various levels.

"This is the only planet right now that we know outside the solar system that has the correct temperature to support water, it has an atmosphere, and it has water in it, making this planet the best candidate for habitability that we know right now", said lead author Angelos Tsiaras, a Greek astronomer at University College London, said in a press conference.
