Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and entrepreneur Andrew Yang.

Hosted by ABC News in partnership with Univision, each candidate will have 1 minute, 15 seconds to respond to questions from moderators George Stephanopoulos, David Muir, Linsey Davis and Jorge Ramos, and 45 seconds to respond to follow-up questions and rebuttals. Candidates will have the opportunity to deliver opening statements, but there will be no closing statements.

The debate will air on a broadcast network with a post-Labor Day uptick in interest in the race, nearly certainly giving the candidates their largest single audience yet.

The format for this debate is similar in tone to the CNN debate which took place in July where the pace was quick and candidates were often cut off before they could finish a full answer. These include Hulu Live TV, Sling TV, ABC News Live, the ABCNews.com website and apps, The Roku Channel, Facebook Watch, AppleTV, Amazon Fire TV, YouTube, Apple News and Twitter.

The third Democratic presidential debate runs from 8 p.m.to 11 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 at Texas Southern University in Houston.

During the second set of debates, Biden took heat for his defense of former President Barack Obama.

This poll marks one of the only times that Biden has been in jeopardy of losing his front-runner status.

In the first two debates, varying candidates have picked fights with Biden - Harris on busing, Booker on criminal justice, and so on. So this is the first time their dueling visions for the Democratic Party's future will be contrasted onstage.

Biden, Sanders and Warren are 76, 78 and 70, respectively - hardly a contrast to the 73-year-old Trump. But the party toughened the qualifying criteria to winnow the field and give a bigger spotlight to the top candidates. To qualify for the third debate, Democratic candidates had to receive 2% or more in a minimum of four national polls, or polls in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina or Nevada.

The sharp bickering during the first two rounds of the debates dismayed some Democrats, who have urged the candidates to rein in their attacks and focus on laying out their own affirmative agendas.

Only a handful of candidates were measured in NPR's general electorate favorability question, though a more complete roster was surveyed among self-identified Democrats.

O'Rourke and Castro, both from Texas, enjoy home-field advantage for the debate.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar will be a more moderate voice on stage, perhaps complimenting Joe Biden to some extent.

"If she doesn't do well, it's harder to reverse the shift", the source added. Cory Booker, Minnesota Sen. If they can't get any traction in this debate, or in October, their candidacies probably don't have much further to go.
