N. Korean media reports N. Korea's launch of projectiles on Tuesday

North Korea fires unidentified projectiles toward East Sea

State media in North Korea say the country's leader oversaw the test of a "super-large multiple rocket launcher " on Tuesday.

Just hours after agreeing to resume talks, two more North Korean nukes were tested leaving South Korea furious.

A view shows the testing of a super-large multiple rocket launcher in North Korea, in this undated photo released on September 10, 2019 by North Korea's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

He said the weapons system "has been finally verified in terms of combat operation" and "running fire test" is what remains to be done.

Policy analysts say Bolton's departure could help US efforts to revive the talks but will not make Washington's aim of persuading Pyongyang to give up its nuclear weapons any easier.

North Korea has so far this year taken a series of positive steps, and has asked the United States to meet them half way, he said.

North Korea is due to come into focus when the UN General Assembly meeting starts next week in NY, after a UN Security Panel report said Pyongyang was violating sanctions to help fund its weapons programme.

The KCNA, however, did not mention whether the test was a success, in contrast to its previous launch on August 24, when the North claimed it conducted a "successful test-fire of a newly developed super-large multiple rocket launcher".

US Supreme Court backs Trump on asylum crackdown
The policy overturns long-standing convention that the USA hears asylum claims however people have arrived at the border. Administration officials have maintained that the rule would help curb what they call "forum shopping" by migrants.

China urged the United States on Thursday to adopt an approach more conducive to dialogue in response to North Korea's goodwill in wanting to resume denuclearization talks.

On Monday, the North's vice foreign minister Choe Son Hui said in a statement carried by KCNA that the country had "willingness to sit with the U.S. side for comprehensive discussions of the issues we have so far taken up" later this month, at a time and place to be determined.

Little progress has been made in getting Kim to give up his weapons programs, but Trump has repeatedly pointed to North Korea's freeze in nuclear and long-range missile tests since 2017 as evidence of the success of his efforts.

Bolton was conspicuously absent from Trump's last meeting with Kim Jong Un.

The president also excoriated Bolton, his third national security adviser in as many years, for once suggesting that the United States look to "the Libyan model" as a way to get the North Korean dictator to play ball.

North Korea has previously said that its development of new weapons is to counter military threats and offensive pressures against its own security.

In April, Kim said he was open to another summit with Trump but set the end of the year as a deadline for the United States to offer improved terms for an agreement to revive the nuclear diplomacy.

Trump and Kim agreed then to restart working-level negotiations for denuclearization talks that have been stalled since an unsuccessful second summit between Trump and Kim in Hanoi in February.
