Mystery Nintendo Switch exercise accessory is called Ring-Con, coming in October

Worldwide Hardware Sales Estimates For The Week Ending August 31 Nintendo Leading The Pack

With an October 18 release date, the game is powered by the Ring-Con fitness band and Leg Strap accessory (both pictured below). As you can see in the trailer, Ring Fit Adventure is controlled entirely by performing physical tasks, a return to the days of Wii Sports.

Two peripherals were revealed today: Ring-Con and Leg Strap.

Ring Fit Adventure turns a typical adventure game on its head as players squat, press and flex their way through challenges designed for a wide range of body types and levels of fitness experience.

In a seven-minute long video today, we're taken through a demo of Ring Fit Adventure and what kind of content players can expect. By all indications, it's a sort of RPG-meets-runner game, like, well... any game with "Run" in it. Players hold the ring accessory - which is called the Ring-Con - and can use it to maneuver their character as they run forward through the game's world (thanks to the Joy-Con leg strap accessory).

South Florida weather forecast: Heavy rain, wind this weekend
We will be on the western side of this upper high pressure today, allowing for spotty showers to continue to be in the forecast. Environmental conditions could become more favorable for development when the system moves into the Gulf of Mexico.

Split into arms, legs, abs and yoga stretches, "Fit Skills" are individual and unlockable exercises that serve as your special moves and attacks.

You'll also need to defend against incoming attacks by pushing the Fit-Con against your tummy and activating your core.

If turn-based battles focus on strength exercises, then overworld exploration is much more cardio based.

Nintendo's odd new Switch experience has a name: Ring Fit Adventure. With additional mini-games and workout routines, Ring Fit Adventure is a fun experience for players of various skill levels and lifestyles. Finally, Sets mode is the traditional exercise mode, so if you want to get moving but you don't want jump into Adventure mode, it sounds like Sets will be the mode for you. It looks like a lot more fun than your standard exercise game.
