Johnson considering building bridge between Scotland and Northern Ireland

The risks appeared to include "munitions in the Irish Sea" from World War II, the documents said.

Mr Johnson first mooted the idea while serving as foreign secretary, telling the Sunday Times a year ago: "What we need to do is build a bridge between our islands".

The Prime Minister has ordered his team to find out how much the bridge would cost, how it could be funded and whether it would make sense to build, it has been claimed.

He stated he had been speaking "about constructing a bridge from Stranraer in Scotland to Larne in Northern Eire - that will be superb".

Johnson reportedly wants to know where the money would come from along with the "risks around the project".

"I don't think the "Boris bridge" is a real proposal".

Writing to the Sunday Times, James Duncan, a retired offshore engineer from Edinburgh wrote: "I know this is about as feasible as building a bridge to the moon".

Google Earth Leads to Discovery of Man Missing Since 1997
The housing development where Moldt's remains were found was reportedly under construction at the time he went missing. A submerged vehicle, with the skeletal remains of William Earl Moldt, was found after being spotted on Google Earth.

"For a great part of the 22-mile route the water is more than 1,000ft deep".

Now, the Prime Minister has floated the idea of an "All-Ireland" zone, a pact which would effectively remove the need for the Irish backstop entirely - which has been a key sticking point throughout Brexit negotiations.

He said he hopes that as the threat from no-deal becomes more real in the United Kingdom, the "debate will become more honest".

The project was rejected by the airport commission in January 2014.

Number 10 has insisted it has not commissioned any work on the project, and that the work was done by the civil service during the Tory leadership election as possible schemes for a new prime minister to pursue. And ever since then, various prime ministers and members of Parliament have been struggling with how best to do that amid rancorous disagreements among the political parties.

Mr Johnson final year reportedly suggested also constructing a bridge across the English Channel to connect the United Kingdom and France.

SDLP Infrastructure Spokesperson Sinead Bradley accused Mr Johnson of having an "obsession with undeliverable projects" and slammed the "fantasy bridge" as a mere distraction to the chaos at Westminster.
