Blane Barksdale, 56, and Susan Barksdale, 59, had been on the run since August 26, when they broke free from two guards who were taking them from upstate NY to Tucson, Arizona, to face murder charges over the killing of an elderly man and burning of his house last April.

A pair of 50-plus-year-old married murder suspects were busted in Arizona on Wednesday night after weeks on the lam since escaping police custody in NY, a report said.

A married couple wanted for murder in Arizona and on the run for three weeks after allegedly overpowering guards in Utah during their extradition, were captured Wednesday, authorities said.

Neither of the guards was hurt, but they were bound with shoelaces, Gonzales said.

The Marshals Service provided no details on the circumstances of their capture but scheduled a news conference in Phoenix late Thursday morning.

The couple was originally arrested in May after they were found hiding in an RV in a Henrietta parking lot.

Blane Barksdale was described as having Nazi swastika tattoos and the couple were said to be associated with white supremacy groups, and members of such groups may have been helping them hide out, officials said.

A fugitive husband-and-wife team wanted for murder and arson have been captured in Arizona - almost three weeks after they overpowered guards and escaped custody in Utah last month.

The Marshals Service says the couple "overpowered and kidnapped" two security officers and another prisoner near Blanding, Utah, about 50 miles from the Utah-Arizona border. His house was set on fire and his vehicle was stolen in April.

On Monday, Blane Barksdale was placed on the U.S. Marshals Service 15 Most Wanted List, and the reward for information leading to his arrest increased to $25,000, The Arizona Republic reported.

The guards, a male and female, were unarmed and didn't feel the need to take a handgun that was inside a locked box when they went to open the rear compartment of the van, authorities say. A third inmate in the van wanted no part of the escape.

It took the guards more than two hours to free themselves.

The Barksdales have been charged with first-degree murder by Tucson police in the death of Frank Bligh, 72, who hasn't been seen since fire consumed his home April 16.

The Barksdales were being extradited from upstate NY, where they were arrested in May. There, the couple pulled up to an acquaintance's house and took a red GMC Sierra pickup truck.
