Bowen Yang is SNL's First Asian Cast Member, and He's Gay Too

Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast

Shane Gillis, one of three performers added to the cast of "Saturday Night Live" on Thursday, used a racial slur in a September 2018 episode of "Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast", as shown in a video resurfaced on Twitter by comedy journalist Seth Simons. Fineman has been a regular performer with the Groundlings improv company, and both she and Gillis were featured as New Faces at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal. They join after Leslie Jones exited the show to concentrate on film and other projects.

SNL returns September 28 with host Woody Harrelson and musical guest Billie Eilish. Her television credits include "Jane the Virgin" and "Search Party". Yang joined "SNL" as a staff writer last season and is co-host of the "Las Culturistas" podcast.

"Good Good Comedy Theatre stopped working with him within the past few years because of racist, homophobic, and sexist things he's said on and offstage", said Kate Banford, co-owner of the comedy theater, told Wright. However, it seems like she may be the only cast member leaving at this time.

Former Oregon State cornerback Terrell Roberts killed in Bay Area shooting
Investigators determined the shooting happened in the garage following a disturbance between Roberts and the suspect. The Roberts family told a San Francisco television station that Roberts had not been "mixed up in anything bad".

Gillis was a New Face at the 2019 Just for Laughs.

The video appears to be from a podcast recording of Gillis' two-man show, which airs on the Bonfire on Sirius XM. "Fleabag" star Phoebe Waller-Bridge will host after Harrelson, with Taylor Swift as the musical guest. Lorne Michaels, the creator of "SNL", also is Jewish.

Calls for comment from NBC and Saturday Night Live were not immediately returned.
