Florida teen accused of stealing parents' money to have them whacked

Florida teen used parents' money to hire people to kill them, deputies say

A Umatilla High School student is in custody after her arrest on charges of trying to find someone to kill her parents with $1,300 she stole from their debit card, according to an arrest report.

The teen, from Florida, took her parents' debit card and has subsequently been charged with two counts of criminal solicitation for murder, as her parents are thankfully still alive.

Deputies with the sheriff's department shared that they were contacted by a juvenile witness who said that Hatcher had given a friend "a lot of money" so that they could find someone to kill her parents.

In her interview with the detective, the suspect said because "the act was never carried out" by the girl who took $400 she gave $900 to a male to commit the murders, the report said.

An investigation soon found that the teen had stolen her parents' debit card and completed two transaction - one for $503 and the other for $926.40.

Neither plots were successful.

Hatcher's parents were not injured and told investigators they wanted to press charges against their daughter.

The teen suspect allegedly told detectives she spent the remaining $100 stolend from her parents on a small quantity of cocaine.

Alyssa Hatcher was arrested on Monday by the Umatilla Police Department.

Hatcher was transferred Tuesday morning from the Lake County Jail to the juvenile jail in Ocala.

Sergeant Fred Jones, public information officer for the Lake County Sheriff's Office, didn't respond to Oxygen.com's request for comment.

Confirming that Hatcher's parents wanted to press charges, Jones told local station WOFL-TV, "When it comes to something like that, I can not imagine the shock you would be in as a parent knowing that this is my daughter - what my daughter meant to do".

In a statement, Clermont police said: "This is an important example of how "see something, say something" plays a major role in preventing crime and protecting people in our community".
