Local Red Cross plans to help those affected by Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian is making it's way to the coast of the Southeastern United States, but what does that have to do with South Dakota? "So, every time you go to the store buy a little extra bottle of water, buy a few extra snacks that you can use, buy extra batteries, make sure you have your insurance papers and birth certificates and prescriptions, the kind of things you might need to pack and take off". "So, those are our two primary functions right now", said Central Virginia Red Cross Executive Director Bill Brent.

"We don't yet have a complete picture of what has happened", Sune Bulow, head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies' Emergency Operation Centre in Geneva, said in a statement.

The American Red Cross responds to an emergency every eight minutes, so what are we doing locally to prepare as Hurricane Dorian approaches our nation?

Iran threatens weaker commitment to nuclear deal if Europe doesn't act
Talks related to the agreement were also underway in Vienna, Zarif's spokesman Abbas Mousavi said, without giving more details. The deal's other parties - the UK, France , Germany , China and Russian Federation - have attempted to keep it alive.

More than 600 Red Cross volunteers across the country are heading to the south to help.

"I know I will do everything in my power and with the Red Cross.and do everything in my power to help these people, and that I'm going to alleviate the suffering that they're going through". "I help because it gives people hope".

The Red Cross is also working on preparing long-term shelters, for those who may lose their homes because of Dorian. In advance of Dorian, some 110 emergency response vehicles and 104 tractor-trailer loads full of relief supplies, including cots, blankets and 63,000 ready-to-eat meals have been deployed.
