Tyson Foods recalls chicken patties due to possible contamination

Tyson Foods Inc., one of the largest food producers in the world, just announced a recall of 39,078 pounds of their Weaver-brand frozen fully-cooked chicken patties.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture warned consumers Thursday to discard the product, which is sold as a ready-to-eat item.

The unknown material was discovered after Food and Safety Inspections services received several complaints from customers.

Those who have purchased the products are urged to throw the products away or return them to the store for a refund.

The FSIS said it was notified of a potential contamination after consumers complained.

The company in June recalled about 191,000 pounds of chicken fritters sold across the US after schools complained about pieces of hard plastic in the ready-to-eat products. The packages will have the following lot codes: 0319PBF0617, 0319PBF0618, 0319PBF0619, 0319PBF0620, 0319PBF0621, 0319PBF0622, 0319PBF0623, or 0319PBF0600.

"Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider", the USDA said. Consumers can report a problem with food to the USDA by calling that number or visiting the department's website.
