Walmart pulls violent video games signs after mass shootings

ESPN feels its audiences don't want to see Apex Legends scenes like this

A common response to this is to decry the irony of Walmart still selling guns while trying to respectfully curtail video game advertising. "Is there any truth to these reports?" Her plan calls for creating a federal licensing system, limiting the number of firearms someone could buy, raising the minimum age to 21 for purchasing a gun, holding gun manufacturers liable (and, in some cases, even holding gun industry CEOs personally liable).

"We've taken this action out of respect for the incidents of the past week, and this action does not reflect a long-term change in our video game assortment", Tara House, a Walmart spokeswoman, said in a statement obtained by USA Today.

Sanders said in a tweet that he agrees with Walmart workers calling for the company to pull guns from its shelves.

Shortly after the posting of this story, we were contacted by a Walmart representative who apologized for what was apparently a miscommunication on their behalf.

Following multiple acts of unspeakable gun violence over the last week, there has been a serious effort to shift the conversation away from the actual causes and on to the old topic of violent video games.

We apologize for any confusion that may have come from this. We are similarly pissed. But given recent attitudes towards so-called "violent video games", this doesn't feel like a move made to honor the dead or comfort the living.

Hong Kong airport shuts down amid pro-democracy protest
Police responded with tear gas and rubber bullets at various locations - including inside a metro station for the first time. They also argued the bill would give China more control over Hong Kong.

Walmart has reportedly asked stores to remove displays featuring violent video games and movies following two in-store shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Southaven, Mississippi.

Vice reported that Walmart employees received memos from corporate headquarters asking for the immediate removal of "signing and displays referencing violence".

The American Federation of Teachers also demanded that the company stop donating to politicians who take money from the National Rifle Association and threatened a boycott if the retailer didn't take action.

Our statement stands company wide. These games are all still available on the Walmart website, and locations all still report having these games in stock according to that website, but if you were to casually stroll through one of these stores right now it basically looks like a penny sale on Black Friday. IGN has not been able to confirm whether the in-store pickup option is actually viable in stores. Some Walmart employees have called for a walkout over the comapny's continued sales of firearms in the wake of the attack.

As you probably know, the United States retail chain Walmart has implemented a new video game policy, according to which any advertising of violent titles will be prohibited.

And while it will be taking down promotional materials deemed "violent", it will continue to sell guns and ammunition.
