However, the Prime core (Kryo 485) is clocked at 2.96GHz, up from 2.84GHz on the Snapdragon 855. The chip is targeting powerful mobile devices, with an emphasis on 5G, gaming, AI, and AR.

ASUS has already confirmed that the ROG Phone II will sport a 120Hz display, up from 90Hz on the first-gen handset. A massive improvement in gaming will soon be available for flagship devices.

That "Plus" denotes a small gaming and VR-focused upgrade on top of the Snapdragon 855 processor found in a lot of the top Android phones of 2019.

Qualcomm has essentially taken on the task of binning of the Snapdragon 855 for its new 855+ variant. According to the news which was just released last night, the new chipset has a higher clocking rate, improving the CPU and GPU performance by 4.2% and 15% respectively which is a big difference.

What this means is that it Realme could possibly be embracing the new chipset incidentally or it could be a start to speculations of the next device from Realme that will likely power the new Snapdragon 855+ SoC.

Apart from gaming performance, it's unclear if the Snapdragon 855 Plus will make standard apps and the Android operating system run faster or more smoothly.
