Shoelace is Google’s latest attempt at making a social network that sticks

Google’s taking another crack at building a social network

Check out everything about the new social networking app from Google. While Google+ gave other major social networks a fright in its early days, it eventually ran out of steam and had to close down for good just this year.

Google might not have succeeded in building a successful social networking platform inspite of several attempts, but that isn't apparently stopping the company from giving it one more shot anyway.

Conversely, if you don't have any of your own events to suggest, users can designate their interest in a variety of categories, which Shoelace will use to recommend a number of "hand-picked" activities the app thinks you might like, so you won't have any excuse for saying there's nothing fun to do ever again. Shoelace is a hyperlocal app for organizing events and activities, called "Loops", which makes it similar to Facebook Events.

Each day, we find the best things happening around you - from pick-up soccer to free comedy shows - so you don't have to.
It is now available only to 'select communities' in New York City, and users must have an active Google account to sign in.

VW investment vaults Argo into top ranks of self-driving firms
One vehicle has already been confirmed and is due to arrive in 2023, and Ford is now studying a second. Automakers worldwide have been forced to transform quickly in the race to dominate new technologies.

This social interaction platform differs from the standard social media platform, in that it allows you to meet like-minded people online, and encourages you to go on to develop real life friendships.

With Shoelace, you can create a listing for an event or activity and invite friends or strangers to join in.

Users will also be able to create profiles so that they can share some tidbits about themselves, learn about others in their "crews", and make it easier to organise and plan for upcoming events. Google is even taking requests for suggestions on places it should bring Shoelace to next. The Shoelace app can be downloaded via Google Play Store and App Store (via Test Flight).

Now you all might be wondering, what's the reason behind the name "Shoelace"?
