N. Korea vows to respond to South's deployment of F-35 jets

Xi urged Trump to ease N. Korea sanctions – Beijing

South Korean news Yonhap, quoting sources from White House, said that the Trump administration is mulling to offer 12- to 18-month suspension of "certain sanctions" if North Korea dismantles its main Yongbyon nuclear facility and freezes the entire nuclear program.

But since the Vietnam summit, North Kore has significantly reduced diplomatic activity and exchanges with South Korea and demanded that Seoul break away from Washington and resume inter-Korean economic projects held back by USA -led sanctions against the North. -North Korea summit in June 2018, Trump promised to provide security guarantees to Pyongyang, while Kim committed to the "complete" denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Trump walked away from his previous round of talks with Kim after the North Korea leader sought the removal of all United Nations sanctions passed in 2016 and 2017 in exchange for dismantling Yongbyon.

Trump said after his meeting that both sides would set up teams to push forward stalled talks aimed at getting North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons and his secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, said they would likely happen "sometime in July. probably in the next two or three weeks".

The UN Security Council has passed five rounds of sanctions against North Korea since the country's fifth nuclear test in September 2016.

Ortagus said Washington's goal remained the complete elimination of all of North Korea's weapons of mass destruction.

Mueller hearing format gets complaints from junior Judiciary members
At a news conference in May, Mueller said the team chose the words in the report carefully and that the work speaks for itself. Douglas Collins, R-Ga., the ranking member on the Judiciary Committee, accused Nadler of being on a "subpoena binge".

Despite the summits between Trump and Kim in Singapore and Hanoi, the United States has kept up pressure on countries to implement the sanctions - and on North Korea to abide by them. "That would never be the end of a process", State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus told a regular news briefing. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang also took spoke of the report during a press conference Friday, noting that, during his G20 talks with Trump, Xi "encouraged the U.S.to be flexible, meet [North Korea] halfway by lifting some sanctions in due course and doing other things, and find ways to resolve each other's concerns through dialogue". There has been no sign of a narrowing of differences since.

On Friday, an influential Tokyo-based pro-DPRK outlet said the USA would need to take "sincere measures" to build trust between the two countries.

Suspension of sanctions could be renewed if progress in denuclearization "moves at a good pace" but snap back if the North cheats in any way, the source added.

The Hwasong-14, another North Korean ICBM tested in mid-2017, was also mentioned in the report, and said to be capable of reaching "most" of the U.S. mainland, given its 10,000km+ (6250 mile) range.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump said that Kim "was so happy to see me" during his hastily-arranged visit to the demilitarized zone with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

Kim Jong Un took things even further when Trump entered the White House, testing intercontinental ballistic missiles and another nuclear bomb estimated to be more powerful than all previous ones combined.
