I won't complain about Wimbledon crowd - Djokovic

Roger Federer must win first set against Rafael Nadal says Woodbridge

"I had my chances", Nadal said.

Unable to sustain such extraordinary hitting, Federer had a mental dip in the second set, dropping serve to love in the fourth game with three sloppy unforced errors.

Roger Federer beat Rafael Nadal in the 2006 and 2007 Wimbledon final. Nadal, the man who sported slick long hair back in 2008 is now balding, while Federer has the wrinkles of a man that has been chased by everyone in the sport for the best part of two decades. The capacity crowd at Centre Court showered both Nadal and Federer with cheers and a standing ovation that lasted for several minutes.

"But at the same time I created another opportunity to be in another final of a Grand Slam".

"I thought probably the biggest points in the match went my way".

"He just wants to be like Roger (Federer)", Nick Kyrgios said earlier this year.

Two more service holds put him within a set of victory and the Swiss turned the screw in the fourth set as Nadal faded.

That knocked the belief out of Bautista Agut and Djokovic broke for 2-1, again for 4-1 and though the Spaniard saved four match points, the world No 1 finished things off to book his place in another final.

Federer ruefully blundered a chance to gain a match point on Nadal's serve at 3-5 when he unsuccessfully challenged a line call having hit a clean victor.

In fact, it's the first time since 2007 that Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have all reached the Wimbledon semifinals.

After going almost one-and-a-half years without playing each other, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will meet for the second consecutive Grand Slam tournament when they clash in Friday's Wimbledon semifinal.

Robert Mueller's congressional testimony may be delayed
Special Counsel Robert Mueller's blockbuster appearance before two House committees has been delayed until later this month. There's nothing Mueller "can say, he's written a report, it said, no collusion and it said effectively, no obstruction".

Nadal's four-set defeat was somewhat unexpected since he had been an unstoppable force in his last three matches.

"It's always very, very cool to play against Rafa here, especially (since we) haven't played in so long", said the second seed, who stands one win away from holding aloft the pineapple-topped Challenge Cup for a record ninth time.

The 37-year-old now has the chance to extend his haul to 21 when he faces the other member of tennis's Big Three - 15-time major victor Novak Djokovic - in Sunday's final.

However, while Federer was happy to have kept his great rival at bay for at least one more Grand Slam, Nadal was cognisant of his own lost opportunity. "He played little bit better than me, I think".

The shackles came off in a high-quality breaker, and the five points Federer reeled off in a row were enough to hand the 37-year-old the opening set.

Wimbledon, however, is Federer's dominion. "I didn't receive well today", Nadal said.

Nadal, the 2008 and 2010 champion at Wimbledon, has the edge overall, leading his great rival and friend 24-15 and 10-3 at the Slams. He clung on at 3-5, saving two match points, then had a break point as Federer served for the match.

Having won his 12th French Open title last month, he had looked fired-up to win his third Wimbledon crown and first since 2010.

The party was postponed, and his buddies flew to England to join Bautista Agut's fiancee in cheering him on.

"I had to dig deep, Roberto was playing his first semi-final at a Grand Slam and he was not really overwhelmed".

The top-ranked Serb won the third set to lead his semifinal against Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
