Bolsonaro "unconcerned" about criticism over nomination of his son to ambassadorship

The president said the nomination "would be the flawless message to Washington". "He's friends with Donald Trump's children".

On Friday, Bolsonaro said in a Facebook Live that he "is not concerned" about the criticism he was receiving over the nomination idea.

Eduardo, the third of the president's four sons, said he had yet to receive a formal offer but would accept the role.

Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, arrives for the showing of a documentary on the government of Jair Bolsonaro in Washington, U.S., March 16, 2019.

I won't complain about Wimbledon crowd - Djokovic
Having won his 12th French Open title last month, he had looked fired-up to win his third Wimbledon crown and first since 2010. Two more service holds put him within a set of victory and the Swiss turned the screw in the fourth set as Nadal faded.

Congressman Ivan Valente of the leftist Socialism and Liberty Party said the nomination would be unethical.

Mr Bolsonaro uses plenty of of his relatives as reputable advisers.

Though he now serves as the head of the House of Representatives' Foreign Relations Committee, he has never taken an actual diplomatic job before.

When asked by reporters about his qualifications for the position, Eduardo Bolsonaro said he had been in a foreign exchange program where he "fried hamburgers in the United States, in the cold in Maine" and "in the cold in Colorado, on a mountain there".

He said Eduardo Bolsonaro is a friend of U.S. President Donald Trump's children, speaks English and Spanish and has experience overseas.

The far-right Brazilian president, who said his campaign previous year was inspired by US President Donald Trump, has made friendly overtures to the American leader and made similar use of family members as official advisers. There's a long list of other foreign policy issues in Washington.
