Ross Perot, Texas Billionaire Businessman And Former Presidential Candidate, Dies At 89

Ross Perot gives his closing remarks Sunday Aug. 13 1995 at the close of the weekend United We Stand America National Conference in Dallas. Perot referred to the presidency as a

Perot, a business magnate who lost his independent campaigns for president in 1992 and 1996, is thought of as Trump's populist predecessor who paved the road for Trump's successful campaign in 2016.

Perot established the Reform Party and ran for the presidency again in 1996, but failed to recapture his 1992 momentum and won eight percent of the vote.

Disenchanted that his bosses did not like his ideas, Perot started his own company, Electronic Data Systems Inc in Dallas, a move that would make him a billionaire by age 38 by handling data processing for customers such as the Medicare system, Nasa and other government entities.

The Vermont senator and 2020 presidential hopeful revealed as much in a tweet eulogizing Perot-the boisterous Texas billionaire, philanthropist and twice-failed presidential candidate-who passed away on Tuesday at 89.

Ross Perot's will explicitly instructs his 11 children to donate $9 million each to the Trump 2020 campaign.

Approximately a month later, Perot reentered the race and became the last third-party candidate ever invited to the national general election debates. It's just that simple. Perot had firsthand knowledge of how inefficiently IBM's customers were using their system, so he set out to change that.

Ravindra Jadeja ripped me apart on all fronts: Sanjay Manjrekar
Jadeja displayed an all-round performance against the Kiwi side as he played a knock of 77 runs and went on to take one wicket. New Zealand survived Jadeja's late onslaught to stun India by 18 runs in a low-scoring thriller on Wednesday.

He launched a second data firm, Perot Systems, which computer maker Dell acquired for $3.9 billion. In December 1986, Perot resigned from the GM board of directors as part of a buyout, and he sold his shares to receive more than $700 million. "In business and in life, Ross was a man of integrity and action", the statement read.

"His appeal as a businessman being involved in politics I think will always resonate with voters", said Anderson. Republicans and Democrats alike made light of Perot's criticisms, but in the years after the treaty was enacted, Perot was ultimately proven correct. He got just 8% of the vote, and the Reform Party that he founded and hoped to build into a national political force began to fall apart. His son, Ross Perot, Jr. was asked to describe his father. "Perot has the means to take advantage, making him the most serious third-party candidate since George Wallace" - the governor of Alabama who challenged Richard Nixon and Hubert Humphrey in 1968.

"He had tremendous tenacity, but it was combined with great vision", said Tom Luce, Perot's longtime business and personal attorney.

Perot was born on June 27, 1930, in Texarkana, TX, and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1953.

In later years, Perot pushed the Veterans Affairs Department to study neurological causes of Gulf War syndrome, a mysterious illness reported by many soldiers who served in the 1991 Persian Gulf war. Bush said he "epitomized the entrepreneurial spirit" and "gave selflessly of his time and resources to help others in our community".

"That is from Ross Perot", Sanders told the Times.
