How to watch NYC's ticker tape parade for the U.S

When U.S. Soccer President Carlos Cordeiro was drowned out by hecklers as he spoked at Wednesday's victory parade to celebrate the U.S. women's national soccer team's World Cup win, Megan Rapinoe came to his defense.

But the parade in New York's financial district was more than a tribute to a championship team, which has been involved in a well-publicized fight for equal pay with the US men's national team.

"The bigoted vandal scribbled marker over Rapinoe's face and forehead Monday morning on more than six posters displayed throughout the mezzanine level of the station near Sixth Avenue and West 42nd Street, cops said Tuesday". Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher held the World Cup trophy aloft.

"A woman player's base salary is approximately $30,000 less than her male counterpart's", the letter stated, "and when including bonuses, women's income is just 38 percent of men's income".

In March 2019, all 28 members of the USWNT also filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation, accusing it of "intentional gender discrimination".

A number of the team's stars, including Megan Rapinoe, have made clear their decision not to visit Trump at the White House after winning the country's fourth Women's World Cup.

Burger King Adds $1 Crispy Taco to Menus Nationwide

Before the World Cup final, FIFA President Gianni Infantino proposed doubling the prize money for the next women's tournament, in 2023, from $30 million to $60 million. France's tournament gave the players even more of a platform to speak out and demand a change from Federation Internationale de Football Association as Infantino was booed during the trophy presentation and chants of "equal pay" broke out.

Fans who attended the World Cup finals in Lyon, France started chanting "Equal pay!" after Team USA won the championship game.

New York City's first ticker tape parade was thrown in 1886 to celebrate the dedication of the Statue of Liberty.

At a City Hall rally after the parade, de Blasio, also a Democrat, honored the team with symbolic keys to the city, saying it "brought us together" and "showed us so much to make us hopeful".

The so-called ticker tape parade is named for the long strands of ticker tape that used to be showered down from office buildings. Other than the National Basketball Association ... teams love coming to the White House.

She says "we have pink hair and purple hair, we have tattoos and dreadlocks, we have white girls and black girls and everything in between".
