Halle Bailey replaces Zendaya in The Little Mermaid

Confused film fans realize Halle Berry not starring in live-action ‘Little Mermaid

Halle Bailey has been cast as Ariel in Disney's live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid", but there has been some backlash to the casting of a black actress. Some trolls even tried to claim that all mermaids (which are mythical creatures) must be white. "ALLLL I'M SAYING I would've like to see Ariel just like they've always painted her".

Twitter users have even gone as far as trying to prove with science why Ariel - a cartoon character - should be white. Many pointed out that Disney can do as it pleases with casting for its movies and shows, citing The Descendants as one example. Fed up with the critics, Disney's cable network Freeform responded with "An open letter to the Poor, Unfortunate Souls" who found an issue with Bailey's casting.

Freeform continued: "But for the sake of the argument, let's say that Ariel, too, is Danish". Many critics are taking issue with the fact that the original Ariel was fair-skinned with red hair, which Bailey is not.

Nilah Magruder, a storyboard artist and writer for animation based in Los Angeles, posted her "Little Mermaid" fan art online.

Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein accused of sex trafficking minors
Epstein because there were many other people who participated with him and made the sex trafficking possible", added Boies. Epstein, now 66, also was required to register as a sex offender.

Additionally, Broadway star Sierra Boggess - who originated the role Ariel on Broadway - applauded Bailey's casting via Twitter. In the minds of some Disney fans, the red-headed animated mermaid is supposed to look exactly the same way she does for the CGI reboot.

Bailey then saw Berry's message and was clearly touched by her well-wishes.

Alyssa Milano is thrilled about Halle Bailey leading The Little Mermaid live action. Nevertheless, the release date of the film has not yet been decided. Plus, you know, she's a mermaid, and the last time we checked no one really knows what they look like since they don't exist in real life. Fans of original stories like Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin have been getting new versions of the classic tales being brought to the big screen.
