US Agency Warns of Destructive Iranian Cyber-Attacks

"We want them to be more desperate", McCaul told "Face the Nation" Sunday.

"I reiterated the UK's assessment that Iran nearly certainly bears responsibility for recent attacks on tankers in the Gulf of Oman", Murrison said and called for such activity to stop.

USA media said the attacks crippled computers used to control missile launchers and a spying group tracking ships in the Gulf.

"Iranian regime actors and proxies are increasingly using destructive "wiper" attacks, looking to do much more than just steal data and money".

Although that decision seems to have temporarily cooled tensions between the two sides, the administration said Iran should not test the US again.

Last week's cyber-attack aimed at Iran is not the first time that the US' cyber forces have hit the Middle Eastern country.

Saudi Arabia's foreign minister said this week the kingdom wants to avoid war, but called for tougher sanctions on Iran.

"I fear that if Iran doesn't have a firm set of boundaries drawn around its behavior we're going to see an attack on a USA ship or a USA manned aircraft", Mr.

Trump initially said Iran had made a "very big mistake" and that it was "hard to believe" that shooting down the drone on Thursday was not intentional.

Iran has denied seeking a nuclear weapon, and says its programme is for civilian purposes.

Saudi and Emirati leaders advocate a tough U.S. approach against common foe Iran, which on Monday said that any new American sanctions against it would have no "impact". Iran shot down the drone, saying it was in its air space, which Washington disputes.

According to Jahromi, the fortress will also help Iran prevent denial-of-service strikes and protect the country's industrial infrastructure against cyber espionage and sabotage attacks.

The cyber-attack also came after news broke that Iranian hackers had increased their efforts in targeting USA critical infrastructure following rising political tensions between the two states over the past few months.

The Texas Republican praised Mr. Trump for exercising "restraint" this week, saying the tense standoff with Iran was reminiscent of the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960s. In the latest comment from Tehran, an adviser to President Hassan Rouhani repeated a longstanding demand that Washington lift sanctions in line with the deal.

But the adviser, Hesameddin Ashena, also tweeted a rare suggestion that Iran could be willing to discuss new concessions, if Washington were willing to put new incentives on the table that go beyond those in the deal.

"If they want something beyond the JCPOA, they should offer something beyond the JCPOA; with worldwide guarantees".

Andrew Murrison, Britain's minister for the Middle East and North Africa, said on Sunday that he had "open, frank and constructive" talks with Iranian government representatives in Tehran.

Iran's June exports are down from about 400,000-500,000 bpd in May as estimated by the industry sources and Refinitiv and a fraction of the more than 2.5 million bpd that Iran shipped in April 2018, the month before President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the nuclear deal. "As President Trump said on Friday our military is rebuilt, new and ready to go", Bolton said in Jerusalem alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, himself a vocal critic of Iran over the years.
