Israel Folau accused of greed over funds appeal to fight Rugby Australia

An Instagram post from Israel Folau reading

Folau had his $5 million contract with Rugby Australia revoked last month after he refused to remove a social media post that warned drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters that they were destined to go to hell unless they repented.

"People say Australia was divided and I think there's some truth in that".

Former Wallabies teammate Drew Mitchell was left incensed by that fact, slamming Folau for his "greed". And despite making more money per year than most of us will ever see in one lump sum over the course of our entire lifetimes, Folau has now turned to his audience, begging for their financial support, so that he might "fight" Rugby Australia's decision to drop him over his homophobic remarks. "The money I am asking for is exclusively to fund the rest of my action in court, ' he wrote on his GoFundMe page".

"To those who believe in the right to practise religion without fear of discrimination in the workplace, here is my ask: Stand with me".

Speaking to his congregation, Folau said homosexuality was a "sin" and the result of trying to please man rather than God.

One year ago in April 2018, Folau replied to a follower in an Instagram post who asked, "what was gods plan for gay people?" Your support and my faith in Jesus Christ will give me strength.

Specifically, an independent panel found Folau's post was a "high-level" breach of Rugby Australia's professional players' code of conduct.

Army Chief Shot After Botched Coup Attempt In Ethiopia
A spokesman for Ethiopia's prime minister says the head of the country's military has been shot dead in the capital, Addis Ababa . Ethnic violence, typically sparked by land disputes, has displaced almost three million people across Ethiopia.

He told 2GB radio's conservative commentator Alan Jones on June 21 that his termination was "inconsistent", as there had been no clause in his contract to state that he couldn't express his religious beliefs outside the workplace.

An exasperated Liz Ellis and Peter FitzSimons have spoken out about Israel Folau's GoFundMe campaign which has now exceeded the $650k mark.

However, his public plea for millions, despite having amassed more than $10 million in salary payments alone during his career in the NRL, AFL and rugby, left many Australian fans and commentators with a bitter taste in their mouths.

"That's not what GoFundMe is for, it's for worthy causes where the people need money and they can't support it so they approach the community and say 'listen, I've got nothing in my pockets, I've got a tumour can you help me?'"

Said Folau in his GoFundMe message: "I believe that sharing the Bible is an act of love and compassion". Sadly, after I uploaded the messages from the Bible, my employers, Rugby Australia and Rugby NSW, tore up my employment contract.

He revealed that he and his wife, Maria, have spent A$100,000 ($69,000) of their own money covering legal costs so far, and that he is preparing for higher legal fees in the future.

"Rugby Australia has an army of lawyers at their disposal and they have already said they will divert significant resources to fight me in court", Folau said.
