London to get 'death-defying' infinity pool with 360-degree views

London to get ‘world’s first’ infinity pool with 360-degree views

The proposed Infinity London tower would be 55 stories tall, with a 600,000-litre pool on top.

It's early days yet, but London-based engineers at Compass Pools have released designs for a 55-story building called Infinity London, featuring a 360-degree pool that takes up the entire rooftop, blurring the line between pool and sky. Good question. Swimmers will access the pool through a rotating spiral staircase, which comes up from the pool floor.

The pool will also be fancied with colored lights created to give the tower the appearance of a sparkling jewel at night.

The company admits the design will require some tweaking: "We faced some quite major technical challenges to this building, the biggest one being how to actually get into the pool", said Compass Pool's swimming pool designer and technical director, Alex Kemsley, on the company's website.

"Architects often come to us to design roof top infinity pools, but rarely do we get a say in the building design because the pool is usually an afterthought", Kemsley says.

World Cup Head To Head Match Stats
But the left-handed batsman will be up against an Indian paceman who tops the ODI bowling rankings, with 87 wickets in 50 matches. The 25-year-old lived up to all expectations when he made his World Cup debut against South Africa in Southampton on Wednesday.

Along with this, a built-in wind speed monitor will help avoid water spilling onto the streets below, and an innovative heating system that captures hot gas produced through the building's air conditioning systems to warm the water for the pool. The designers said they wouldn't want to clutter the building sides with unnecessary elevators and so forth.

LONDON, June 8 ― London could become home to the world's first 360-degree rooftop infinity pool, offering swimmers uninterrupted views both above and below the water.

Dubai already home to the world's tallest building, the world's tallest hotel and the world's tallest Ferris wheel, and the emirate's altitude is set to rise even further as one of the world's tallest infinity pools prepares to open.

Like me, Twitter was in shambles trying to figure out the logistics of this infinity pool. The building is design by the company which will include a 5-Star hotel and the pool which is supposed to be it's main point of attraction.

An exact location for the building has yet to be determined. CNN says that construction of the pool could begin in 2020, if partners and contractors are confirmed.
