United CEO promises to rebook passengers concerned about 737 MAX

The three biggest airlines in China have all formally requested compensation from the Boeing Company over the long-period grounding of the 737 Max aircraft as of Wednesday.

China was the first country to ban the 737 Max from its skies following the Ethiopian Airlines crash.

The grounding of Boeing 737 Max 8 planes has resulted in great losses for the company, and the losses are still expanding, the China Eastern Airlines noted. "So if we are not perfectly synchronized with certain other countries that's how it's going to be", Garneau said. If there was a significant disagreement - by 5.5 degrees or more with the flaps retracted - the MCAS would not activate and an indicator of the flight deck would alert the pilots, according to Boeing.

Fifty-seven delegates representing civil aviation authorities in 33 countries have gathered for the meeting Thursday at the FAA's southwest regional office in Fort Worth - including officials from Indonesia and Ethiopia, the two countries leading the investigations into the two fatal MAX accidents that killed 346 people.

The meeting will involve 57 agencies from 33 countries, including China, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, as well as the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.

It said the airline declined to disclose details of a letter of claim that was sent to Boeing. But it's not clear when the Federal Aviation Administration-or other aviation regulators around the world-will allow the plane to return to service.

Vodafone and EE just killed Huawei's 5G launch in the UK
The BT-owned telecoms giant said it will be the first operator in the United Kingdom to launch the new, high-speed mobile network. SoftBank spokesman Hiroyuki Mizukami said the company wants its "customers to feel safe using our products".

Both crashes were linked to the jet's Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System, a new feature on 737 Max planes, which was created to improve the handling of the jet and to stop it pitching up at too high an angle.

The New York Times recently reported that the simulators - which Boeing provides the software for - were not able to accurately replicate conditions similar to those which played a part in both the Ethiopians Airline and Lion Air disasters.

"Let everyone participate to show you aren't cheating", said Guangcha.com, a news website.

Boeing has estimated that Chinese carriers would buy 7,700 jetliners over the next two decades.

A state-owned manufacturer is developing a Chinese competitor to Boeings' 737 and Airbus' A320.

United Airlines Chief Executive Oscar Munoz said on Wednesday that FAA approval is only the first step, with public and employee confidence key to deciding when to fly its 14 MAX jets again. It is the second major Chinese carrier to ask for compensation following China Eastern in April, 2019.
