New York Jets fire GM Mike Maccagnan

The New York Jets fired general manager Mike Maccagnan on Wednesday

In the interim, Coach Gase will be the acting General Manager. Both announcements were made by team chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson.

If you're a NY sports fan who puts your support behind the Knicks and Jets, well, you've had better days.

"This morning, I informed Mike that he was being relieved of his duties as General Manager of the team, effective immediately", Johnson said in a statement.

Schefter reported Wednesday that Eagles VP of player personnel Joe Douglas could be in contention to be hired as the Jets' new GM, given his ties to Adam Gase. I don't know who decides that and gets to put that stuff out there, it kind of pisses me off a little bit because we have discussions on everything and that's our job.

Aston Villa into playoff final after shootout win over West Brom

The New York Jets are shaking things up in the front office and it'll likely have an impact on things in Philadelphia.

After the Steelers agreed to let Bell hit free agency, the Jets swooped in and signed him to a four-year deal worth $52.5 million, including $27 million guaranteed.

Maccagnan compiled a 24-40 record during his tenure as Jets GM, with the team slumping to 4-12 last season. Maccagnan was hired in 2015, days before the franchise hired Gase's predecessor, Todd Bowles. However, Gase and Maccagnan reportedly disagreed on quite a few things, one of those being the acquiring of Jets running back, Le'Veon Bell.

"Very highly thought of, close with [Adam] Gase and another personnel guy on the rise that is a name to keep an eye on here", Rapoport said of Kelly, who has an incredible story of inspiring kids through his charity camps after watching his own mother battle addiction and his dad spend time in jail for dealing drugs.
