How much coffee is too much?

This is how many cups of coffee you should be drinking

Most of the people agreed that drinking lots of coffee may feel you irritable, jittery, and even nauseous at times.

"Coffee is the most commonly consumed stimulant in the world - it wakes us up, boosts our energy and helps us focus - but people are always asking 'How much caffeine is too much?'", explained study co-author Elina Hypponen.

"We also know that risk of cardiovascular disease increases with high blood pressure, a known outcome of excess caffeine consumption", she said. Too much coffee could lead to a 22 percent increase in the risk of having heart disease.

The study, based on UK Biobank data of 347,077 participants aged between 37 and 73 years old, was a bid to understand if some of us are more resilient to coffee's effects than others.

Researchers discovered that keeping coffee consumption under six cups per day was unlikely to affect heart health. According to the World Health Organization, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, yet it's also one of the most preventable.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Astrid Nehlig, a research director at France's National Institute of Health, said: "It is hard to calculate, but my feeling is that drinking coffee possibly adds another couple of years to your life".

Black Mirror Season 5 Trailer: Miley Cyrus, Anthony Mackie Star
Today, we get a closer look at exactly how they will be portrayed with their characters debuting via the Season 5 trailer. The series was created and is written by Charlie Brooker , and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones.

The study's authors analyzed dietary patterns and health records of almost 350,000 participants between ages 37 and 73.

Moderate coffee consumption, which could range between two and five cups per day, "was associated with reduced all-cause and cause-specific mortality, compared to no coffee consumption".

Fortunately for us, numerous studies have revealed that coffee can be good for our health in many ways - at least potentially helping to protect us from multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, type 2 diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver, and Alzheimer's disease, among other afflictions.

She further added that according to the study of the above data, to maintain a healthy heart and high blood pressure, people must start using the limit of coffees to less than a six cups a day. They found also found that despite the ability of the caffeine-metabolizing gene CYP1A2 to process caffeine better and more quickly, it doesn't mean that individuals who carry this gene can consume more coffee without detrimental effects.

And they identified which coffee consumption habits increased or lowered the risk of cardiovascular disease.

"As with many things, it's all about moderation; overindulge and your health will pay for it".
