Effect of body image on mental health to be examined

Led by Radiocentre, the industry body for commercial radio, and working with Heads Together, the mental health campaign spearheaded by the duke's Royal Foundation, the message will mark the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week and Radio Audio Week. Children are under more pressure than ever before due to an "always on" culture driven by social media and pressure to act, look and even dress a particular way.

The survey found that body image issues affected more women than men.

"The majority of workers have felt stressed or anxious about work over the past year."

"Our survey has shown that millions of young people in Britain are worrying about their body image".

'Whilst many employers are claiming to take mental health more seriously, the feedback I'm getting on my travels around the United Kingdom is that many of them are paying it lip service, ' said Natasha Devon MBE, WHYA campaigner and author, 'Our research shows that people still feel the stigma of discussing mental health in the workplace, fearing they will be seen as "unprofessional" if they do disclose a mental health issue.

For the younger generation, Griffin said concerns consisted of paying school fees, mortgages and saving for retirement, and advisers should work to help their clients create a financial plan that was suitable to their needs and, as such, should help improve their mental health.

She said: "The impact social media can have on a person is extreme".

It will include members from youth, third sector and equalities groups. A growing number of professional bodies and organisations have called for tougher regulations around social media advertising out of fear of how it may be affecting young people and their mental health.

Alex Ferguson". "It's either the money or he wanted to be the number one, take the number seven shirt and be the star". Liam Rosenior has blamed Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba for affecting his teammates in a negative way.

"This will build on our package of measures to improve the mental health of young people, and directly target the impact of social media and body image on mental wellbeing".

New data about the impact of body image on young people's mental health will be published by MHF later this week.

The survey asked people about their experiences with social media and advertising.

She added: "Social media continues to present a multitude of dangers for young people which they have been left to navigate on their own devices".

The survey also found large numbers of men can be affected, with a quarter of United Kingdom adult men saying they have felt depressed because of concerns about their body image.

The charity is now lobbying for peer-led mental health programmes to be introduced in schools.

Employers are being urged to do more to tackle mental health issues at work after studies warned of lost productivity and a reluctance to discuss problems.
