Antoine Griezmann Confirms He's Leaving Atletico Madrid

Diego Simeone

Griezmann signed a new five-year deal before the start of the 2018/2019 campaign, but will now leave the club once the season has concluded.

Antoine Griezmann has confirmed he is leaving Atletico Madrid in a video posted to the club's official Twitter account.

ESPN's Moises Llorens reported in March that the 28-year-old turned down the chance to join Barcelona last summer but had grown increasingly frustrated at Atletico this season.

According to Cadena SER, via Mundo Deportivo, just a year after announcing he was to turn down Barcelona advances to stay with Atletico, the World Cup victor now looks to be edging closer to a switch.

From July 1, Griezmann's contract sees a £104m release clause and that would represent an affordable fee for Barcelona to acquire the services of Griezmann.

Lenovo says that issues related to the hinge, screen durability and protection "have all been addressed". The company also has stated that the ThinkPad X1 foldable PC is powered by Intel and runs on Windows.

"I wanted to tell you I have taken the decision to leave", said the French 2018 World Cup victor.

"I wanted to thank you for all the love you've given me in these five years, in which I've won my first important trophies with a club".

"It's been an incredible five years; Thank you very much for everything, I take you in the heart", he said as he addressed the camera. "I keep you in my heart".

Since joining Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014, Griezmann has registered 133 goals and 50 assists in 256 games for the club.

Don't count out the interest of teams like Manchester United, in need of a summer makeover, and Paris Saint-Germain if Neymar happens to leave, though that feels unlikely.
