The game includes a recreation of the Notre-Dame Cathedral.

In a 2014 interview with Geek Ireland, level designer Caroline Miousse said that the in-game interior and exterior of Notre-Dame took 14 months of production "and it took three weeks to dress its interior in accordance to the Revolution era".

If you haven't had the pleasure of playing Assassin's Creed Unity, it's set in France during the late 1700s in a tumultuous period for the nation.

"(Assassin's Creed Unity) 3D scanned #NotreDame in so much detail that this could help rebuilding the cathedral, " tweeted Ştefan Teişanu, director of the Cluj Cultural Centre, non-governmental organization that supports culture and urban development.

Police say church personnel stopped the 37-year-old man from entering the landmark cathedral in Manhattan at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

A look at the history of Notre Dame Cathedral
The April 15 blaze reportedly began in the scaffolding surrounding the spire , quickly spreading to much of the cathedral's roof. Noble in architecture and art, it has always been a symbol of the transcendent human spirit as well as our longing for God.

"Ubisoft wants to give all gamers the chance to experience the majesty and beauty of the cathedral", the publisher's statement reads.

'Video games can enable us to explore places in ways we never could have otherwise imagined, ' Ubisoft said. "We hope, with this small gesture, we can provide everyone an opportunity to appreciate our virtual homage to this monumental piece of architecture".

The French president, Emmanuel Macron, said in an address on Tuesday he wanted the cathedral to be rebuilt within five years and be "more lovely than before".

Macron also appealed for financial help to do so.

The real-world cathedral had been undergoing renovations before a fire erupted and caused severe damage to one of France's most prominent historical monuments. "That his auto had run out of gas", Miller said.
