Rep. Ilhan Omar Sees Spike in Death Threats After Trump 9/11 Attack

Nancy Pelosi appeared to chastise Ms Omar too in her response to Trump

She thanked security officials for "their attention to these threats" and accused Mr Trump of fuelling a rise in "violent crimes and other acts of hate by right-wing extremists and white nationalists".

WASHINGTON - Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont) defended Congresswoman Ilhan Omar on Monday and said that "it is not antisemitic to be critical of a right-wing government in Israel".

On Sunday, in addition to mentioning Omar, Pelosi called on Trump to "take down his disrespectful and unsafe video".

"The President's words weigh a ton, and his hateful and inflammatory rhetoric creates real danger", Pelosi said in a statement.

"But if your question to me is whether I think she is antisemitic: No, I don't", Sanders continued. Trump tweeted, along with the video.

Omar described the pressure to "be a good Muslim" and not make non-Muslims feel "uncomfortable". Beneath that, in large bold letters, it said: "Here's your something".

Critics accuse Omar of offering a flippant description of the assailants behind the attack that killed almost 3,000 people.

Sanders' defense of Omar came after he rushed to Omar's defense over the weekend as she was receiving national criticism for trivializing the 9/11 terrorist attacks. "She is challenging the dominant paradigm of young people entering politics and remaining quiet", Fahmy said about Omar.

Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson reunite for True's first birthday party
I mean, we don't think there's much more hope now, but all the details of the unfoldings are laid out for you in that article. Khloe had previously admitted she was "anxious" over her daughter's first birthday.

NPR pointed out that Omar's full unedited quote from her speech at CAIR read: "CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties".

"But fortunately these forces will not succeed because Omar derives her legitimacy and support directly from the people and from grassroots using social media for them, through which she is able to bypass media which has been hostile to her", Bedier explained.

"If we look at her mere existence, what she represents is everything Trump has been speaking out against - immigration, Omar is a migrant".

In the latest incident, Trump posted a video to his 60 million Twitter followers that used a short snippet of an Omar speech followed by images of the burning Twin Towers in NY.

"First Member of Congress to ever describe terrorists who killed thousands of Americans on 9/11 as 'some people who did something, ' " tweeted Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, on Tuesday. Amy Klobuchar - a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate - said she was "appalled" by the video Trump posted. Most party leaders only want Trump out. Federal prosecutors announced April 5 that Patrick Carlineo Jr. had been arrested after placing a call to her Capitol Hill office in which he threatened to shoot her. Carlineo gave his name and contact information to an Omar staffer, who turned the details over to the FBI. "And any elected leader who refuses to condemn it shares responsibility for it".

Crenshaw also endorsed a tweet that claimed Omar "does not consider [September 11] a terrorist attack on the us by terrorists" and repeated the far-right conspiracy theory that CAIR serves as little more than a front for foreign terrorists. AOC would have done fine - she's radical, pugnacious, clearly hates the right, and seems to believe utterly in the inevitable victory of socialism. "The disgusting and risky attacks against her must end".

Sanders was referencing a previous controversy sparked by Omar speaking out against the influence of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee lobby group in U.S. politics.
