Fisher-Price recalls sleepers after more than 30 babies died

The recall notice came days after Fisher-Price and the U.S. CPSC jointly issued an alert warning parents to stop using the sleepers when their infants displayed the capacity to roll over. The recall covers about 4.7 million of the sleepers, which cost between $40 and $149.

Muscat: Nearly 5 million Rock N Play sleepers produced by toy manufacturer Fisher-Price have been recalled after more than 30 infants died.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said more than 30 babies had died in the sleepers since they were first sold in 2009, with 10 deaths caused by the babies rolling over from their backs to their stomachs unrestrained. The sleepers, which are used to put babies to sleep, are soft padded cradles that vibrate.

Following Friday's recall, Buerkle said the investigation into the sleepers had been a top priority for the commission and announced that officials will continue looking into other inclined sleep products. "We need to step up efforts to assure safety in products before they go on store shelves or into our homes".

Playoffs Roundup: Mitch Marner Leads Maple Leafs' Charge Past Bruins
The ghost of playoffs past haunted Boston with non-existent secondary scoring in Game 1. "I just don't want to overwhelm myself". The 2018 second overall pick will try to help Carolina even its first-round series against Washington in Game 2 Saturday (3 p.m.

In a statement, Fisher-Price owner Mattel confirmed the voluntary recall but stood by the product's safety. All 10 infants were 3 months or older.

"We can not put any more children's lives at risk by keeping these risky products on the shelves", Rachel Moon, the chairwoman of the AAP Task Force on sudden infant death syndrome, said in a letter from the organization.

As a result, both the USPSC and Fisher-Price warned parents to stop using the rocking crib without restraints once their children were more than three months old.

They added: "The ACCC urges parents with this product to keep it out of reach of children". It does not meet the AAP's recommendations for a safe sleep environment for any baby.
