Apple reportedly looking to break up iTunes

According to 9to5Mac, the new apps will be built on Apple's Marzipan platform which allows for the porting of iPad apps to macOS, making it much easier for developers to create an app for a bunch of Apple devices at once.

Part of the problem - aside from the fact that the world has largely gone mobile - is that iTunes on the Mac has steadily become a bloated mess.

Guilherme Rambo at 9To5Mac says he's been able to independently confirm the rumor. When you want to listen to a song, queue up a podcast or watch a movie or TV show, you do so by heading to iTunes and using a drop-down menu to navigate whatever media you want to consume. The TV app, of course, would be a place for Apple's upcoming Apple TV Plus service to live, and the Podcasts app would get podcasts, of course. The refresh means that Mac users can now stream episodes directly from the website, instead of being redirected through iTunes. And since there are still so many issues pegging iTunes like general performance problems and security concerns, it makes sense to finally retire it. And people who are into Apple Podcasts are appreciating the change that has come with the new web interface.

Loss to Raptors dims Heat's playoff chances
Miami was in position to be eliminated later Sunday if Orlando defeated Boston, Brooklyn beat in , and Detroit beat Charlotte. In a game with added importance for his team, Wade answered the call as he has done throughout his 16-year career.

The new Books app will have a sidebar similar to the Apple News app and feature different tabs for Library, Book Store, and the Audiobook store.

The new applications will be examples of Apple's Marzipan project, which aims to produce software with a core codebase that can be run on Apple Mac computers running MacOS and iPads and iPhones running iOS. As always, if you have any thoughts, feel free to sound them off in the comments section below!
