Titans trade for QB Ryan Tannehill

What the signing of Ryan Tannehill release of Blaine Gabbert means for the Titans

The Dolphins will have a new starting quarterback in 2020.

Tannehill will become a well-accomplished backup for Marcus Mariota in Tennessee.

The Miami Dolphins traded Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans on Friday afternoon, severely shaking up the quarterback situation in Tennessee and leaving us wondering what is happening in Miami.

Tannehill finishes his Dolphins career having thrown 123 touchdown passes and 75 interceptions with a 62.8 completion percentage and a passer rating of 87. Tennessee has signed the 30-year-old signal caller to a one-year deal that is reportedly worth $7 million in fully guaranteed money, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. "We wish him the best with the next step of his career".

Tannehill was drafted by the Dolphins in the first round of the 2012 draft.

Real Madrid agree deal for defender Eder Militao from Porto
He is also a full Brazil worldwide and made his debut against El Salvador in September 2018. He has been named the best defender in the league for the last five months in a row.

Tannehill will not count against the Dolphins salary cap in 2020.

He was the first quarterback taken in the top round since Dan Marino.

Tannehill missed all of 2017 and missed five games in 2019 due to a shoulder issue.

The Dolphins are obviously moving in a new direction but where the Dolphins turn to find their next quarterback is anyone's guess at this point. He's also battled injuries for nearly all of his career, and the Titans have struggled when Mariota has missed time. That trade came three weeks after the Dolphins signed Chad Pennington, who would go on to lead them to the AFC East title. Tannehill earned a ideal 158.3 passer rating and was rewarded by being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
