Meghan Markle being ‘vilified’ by press like Diana, says Clooney

George Clooney says Meghan being harassed just like Diana

Clooney, who attended Meghan and Harry's wedding past year alongside his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, said he had seen the recent coverage about the Duchess's supposed letter.

A pregnant Duchess of Sussex gets out of a auto as she and Harry visit Birkehead.

In a 2017 BBC documentary, William described paparazzi who followed her as "a pack of dogs" that "followed her, chased her, harassed her, called her names, spat at her, trying to get a reaction, to get that photograph of her lashing out".

The Hollywood star said media are harassing his friend, the Duchess of Sussex, in the same way they did her husband Prince Harry's mother.

In the letter to her father, Meghan begged him to stop "victimising her".

A paparazzo once told Diana that he would "be there every day of your life until you're dead and then I'll be filming your grave", according to her brother Charles Spencer.

She goes on to complain that Mr Markle has made no attempt to contact her - and chastises him for falsely telling journalists he is the one who has been shunned - a criticism her father refutes. "Please stop victimising me through the media so we can fix our relationship'".

Prince Harry is now happily married to the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.

In terms of the royals, commenters are leaving racist comments and violent threats on the Kensington Palace Instagram page, which has become too much for the palace to deal with and report on its own.

After learning of Clooney's interview, Markle's half-sister, Samantha, took to Twitter to react.

Omid Scobie, a correspondent for United States television show Good Morning America, weighed in on the situation, saying Meghan should have been aware her father would leak the correspondence.

"Women, in particular, are constantly pitted against and compared with each other in a way that reminds me of how people tried to portray Diana and me all the time as rivals, which is something neither of us ever really felt", she said.

"Either you know or be [quiet]", she said.

"She loved Harry, but the fact that he was a prince was often more of a drawback for her than an advantage".
