Iran FM links bus bombing to Warsaw meeting

10 Iranian guards were injured in the attack which reportedly targeted a bus carrying security forces.

A video posted by Fars showed blood and debris at the site of the attack on a road in a volatile area near the Pakistan border where militants and armed drug smugglers operate.

Jaish al Adl group claimed responsibility for the attack via its telegram channel. In 2009, more than 40 people, including six Guard commanders, were killed in a suicide attack by extremists in Sistan and Baluchistan province.

"This terrorist act happened a short time ago and according to reports at least 20 have been martyred and 20 have been wounded", an informed source told IRNA.

The latest attack, one of the deadliest ever carried out against the top military force, comes as Iran is trying to parry what it sees as a US-led war on its economy after Washington re-imposed crippling sanctions against the country.

More recently, another Sunni extremist group known as Jaish al-Adl linked to al-Qaida, kidnapped 11 Iranian border guards in October.

He came out to perform alongside Lopez and before the show, he addressed the controversy. " Motown was music for everybody". Alongside Smokey Robinson and Ne-Yo, J.Lo performed a medley of hits from the label's heyday at the Staples Center.

In December a suicide bombing in the port city of Chabahar, also in the province, killed two police officers and wounded 42 people.

Iranian authorities blamed "jihadist separatists" for the assault claiming they were backed by Saudi Arabia, Israel and the United States. Prince Mohammed is due in Pakistan, a major recepient of the kingdom's largess, in the coming days.

The bombing comes on the day of a US -led conference in Warsaw, Poland that included discussions of what the United States described as Iran' "malign influence" across the wider Middle East.

On Twitter he asked: "Is it no coincidence that Iran is hit by terror on the very day that #WarsawCircus begins?" Since then, the United Nations says Iran has kept up its side of the bargain, though Iranian officials have increasingly threatened to resume higher enrichment.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi condemned the attack and said the victims will soon be avenged.

Zarif earlier predicted the Warsaw summit would not be productive for the U.S.
