DiCaprio Attached To Series About Infamous H.H. Holmes

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo Di Caprio team with Hulu for ‘Devil in the White City

A series based on the book, The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair That Changed America, by Erik Larson, is now being developed at Hulu.

Hulu announced the news during a presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Monday.

The project has been in works by various studios since 2003. There were even talks that Tom Cruise would star and produce an adaptation and later Kathryn Bigelow was attached to direct and produce. DiCaprio himself snapped up the property back in 2010, and originally meant to headline as Holmes in a feature film version directed by Scorsese, though that project never materialized.

Sanchez said that she tried to pinpoint the source of her daughter's anxiety but failed. "And she said, 'No, '" Sanchez said. The chief medical examiner's office has completed an autopsy but has not yet released the cause and manner of Reyes' death.

The series' executive producers include Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, both of whom have had ties to the book's long trek into live-action.

The story may seem familiar to fans of American Horror Story, as the FX series' fifth season was loosely inspired by Holmes' exploits at his infamous "Murder Castle".

The Devil in the White City tells the chilling true story of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were forever linked by The Chicago World's Fair of 1893. "The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair's brilliant director of works and the builder of numerous country's most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in NY and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his "World's Fair Hotel" just west of the fairgrounds-a torture palace complete with dissection table, gas chamber, and 3,000-degree crematorium".
