Baltimore Ravens agree to trade Joe Flacco to Denver Broncos

Case Keenum

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Whenever John Elway talks about a deal, a contract, a player or most anything that crosses his desk for the Denver Broncos, two words nearly always sum up his feelings about doing, or not doing, any of it. Irrelevant int he 2017 NFL Draft, and he managed to briefly win the backup QB spot behind Case Keenum in 2018.

Wednesday, Adam Schefter reported the Ravens and Broncos have agreed to terms on a trade involving the former Super Bowl MVP.

The 2012 Ravens won the Super Bowl, and Flacco was named the MVP of that particular Super Bowl. Keenum, who turns 31 on Sunday, completed 62.3% of his passes for 3,890 yards, with 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Per a report by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Flacco will take the starting job and the Broncos will look for a spot to offload Keenum. The Broncos wield the No. 10 overall pick and were thought to be potential QB seekers of the highest order.

Jordan: 6 titles tougher than Harden, Westbrook streaks
Perhaps Jordan's ring close to home for both players as neither has won an National Basketball Association title. Triple-Double, logging 10 straight in yet another undoubted triple-double season.

The Broncos surprised National Football League fans on Wednesday by agreeing to a deal with the Ravens to acquire 34-year-old quarterback Joe Flacco, who had been relegated to a backup role in 2018 due to the emergence of Lamar Jackson. It's important for people to know that because many have been looking at this deal as one in which the Broncos are absorbing the entirety of Flacco's almost $27 million cap hit in 2019.

The trade can't officially go through until the league's new year opens on March 13, and the two teams can't comment on the deal until that date.

And now, after three years of wandering the quarterback wilderness, three playoff misses and back-to-back seasons of double-digit losses, Elway has a trade in place for Joe Flacco. He is to be paid $18.5 million next season, $20.25 million in 2020 and $24.25 million in 2021. The Broncos will carry $10 million in dead money if they cut him.

Flacco was the starter for most of his 11 seasons with the team before a hip injury sidelined him after nine games this season.
