Elizabeth Warren: Trump ‘May Not Even Be A Free Person’ In 2020

Senator Elizabeth Warren had her presidential campaign kickoff Saturday in Lawrence

US Senator Elizabeth Warren formally announced her candidacy for the White House on Saturday (Sunday NZ time), and hours later President Donald Trump weighed in on his newest campaign opponent, appearing to make a joke with reference to the Trail of Tears.

Addressing a crowd of several hundred at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Warren said it was up to Democrats to decide whether they would spend every day parrying "a racist tweet, a hateful tweet, something really dark and ugly" from the president. "It's to talk about what we understand is broken in this country, talk about what needs to be done to change it and talk about how we're going to do that because that is not only how we win, it's how we make the change we need to make".

Her visit at the event, hosted by the National Conference of American Indians, comes after she apologized last week to the Cherokee Nation for releasing a DNA test in October in an attempt to prove she had Native ancestry.

U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris of California also is expected to make her second campaign appearance in SC this weekend.

The president was railing against letters he's received from congressional committees conducting investigations of his administration and business practices when he let loose on Warren, a favorite target of his. "In fact, he may not even be a free person", she added.

South Korea signs new deal to pay United States more for troop presence
Most US troops were withdrawn in 1949 but they returned the next year to fight alongside South Korea in the 1950-53 Korean war. The deal is for one year only and negotiations for next year would have to begin in a few months.

"Today Elizabeth Warren, sometimes referred to by me as Pocahontas, joined the race for President", Trump tweeted on Saturday. I said, just write her back and say she's got a conflict of interest. OK? "Yeah. Donald Trump is the symptom of a badly broken system", Warren said.

But Warren has been critical of the growing case against the president, from more information about his connections to Putin and a Trump Tower Moscow to his dealing with his former lawyer Michael Cohen.

Evans weighed in after Fox News analyst Brit Hume implied Trump might not have known about the Trail of Tears.

Warren told reporters her comments were a reference to the multiple investigations that have shadowed Trump's presidency.

Warren has struggled to shake the controversy surrounding her past claims to Native American heritage.
