BBC cameraman attacked at Trump rally

BBC cameraman attacked at Donald Trump El Paso rally by MAGA hat thug | Daily Star

BBC Washington correspondent Gary O'Donoghue called the attack "incredibly violent".

A man wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat entered the press pen and shoved cameraman Ron Skeans from behind before he was pulled away by other media members, the BBC reported.

"I'm afraid this statement from the Trump campaign does nothing to address the security lapses at President Trump's rally in El Paso last night when our BBC colleague was attacked".

BBC producer Eleanor Montague, who was also on the platform, said the man had attacked other journalists but Mr. Skeans "got the brunt of it".

Gary O'Donoghue, the Washington correspondent for the British public service broadcaster, described the attack on his cameraman Ron Skeans as "incredibly violent". He continued, "Fortunately, our cameraman is fine, he is made of stern stuff".

The man nearly knocked over the journalist and his equipment twice before being pulled away.

The BBC has requested a White House review of security arrangements at Donald Trump rallies following an incident in El Paso last night in which a BBC camera operator was shoved hard enough to capture the president's attention from the stage. After falling, Skeans appears to pick his camera up off the floor before turning it on his attacker, who is seen shouting "f-ck the media" as he is led away.

Phil Mickelson leads heading into Monday finish at Pebble Beach
He finished three shots behind Graeme McDowell in 2010, the last US Open at Pebble. "I'll deal with that in six months". Mickelson argued that he could "see just fine" on Sunday evening, moments after sunset with two holes remaining.

According to a BBC reporter covering the rally, the attack happened after President Trump had launched heavy criticism towards the news media.

He added he had previously been "spat at" during a Trump rally.

She later added: "To all those who asked after the cameraman - Ron is fine".

"Wow, look at all the press back [there]". Trump has referred to the media as "the enemy of the people" while also saying that the coverage of him and his administration has been "fake news".

Swalwell first introduced the Journalist Protection Act in February 2018, which he said aims to protect "journalists in every corner of our country if they are attacked physically while doing their job".

Esparza didn't return TPM's request for comment but told the Daily Beast: "We are looking into the situation and the released video of the incident but we are not pressing charges at this time ..."
